Thing 18: Online Apps

I've been using online apps for a while now, before they were even called online apps I think. Back in the day I used to use Yahoo for all my online stuff. I used to use their briefcase to store my documents, they also had a component that would let me store my bookmarks (as Delicous does now) and a note utility that I would put things in like quotes and such that I ran across in my surfing. I'm not sure if Briefcase is still around, but I know some of the functions still are, you can find them incorporated into myYahoo, which is basically like iGoogle is now.

Now I am mainly a Google girl. I've used Google Docs to store some work files that I needed to access at home and vice versa. I also now store some of my quotes in there.

In December I used it when my sister was working on her final paper for Grad school. She would work on it on her laptop and send it to me to read over. I would save the most current copy on Google Docs just in case the laptop when Kaput. I utilized the share functions available with Google Docs so my sister could access it as she needed it.

I haven't yet published anything from there, but I have read the Branch Services blog and Joel publishes the DCI classes and links to them from the blog.
